Angelo State University aims to touch tomorrow in the lives of its students, in the growth of their communities, whether local or global, and in the pursuit of the common good of society. As a member of the Texas Tech University System, Angelo State offers strong academic programs in a highly personalized environment that provides expansive learning opportunities, including undergraduate research, in almost 100 majors and concentrations. The low student-faculty ratio (19/1) allows for an individualized educational experience. ASU graduates are sought by graduate and professional schools, such as law and medicine. ASU turns out graduates who can think critically, adapt to a changing world and succeed in various environments, whether in technology, business, the arts, the sciences or graduate/professional school.
Academically, the university is organized with six colleges – Business; Education; Liberal and Fine Arts; Nursing and Allied Health; Sciences; and Graduate Studies – as well as 21 academic departments. Those departments offer 40 undergraduate degrees, 23 graduate programs and one associate degree. ASU provides a distinctive educational experience in agriculture, nursing, educator preparation, biology and physics, which has been recognized by Physics Today as one of the top undergraduate programs in the nation. Students desiring a rigorous academic experience can apply to ASU's dynamic Honors Program while those desiring study abroad can participate in a growing International Studies Program that provides a more global experience while keeping costs within reach of the typical student.
ASU draws its almost 6,400 students from more than 220 of Texas' 254 counties as well as from 39 states and 20 countries. With more than half of its graduates as first generation college students, ASU is attuned to the needs academically and socially of a new generation of college students.
