Students come to Radford University for the small class sizes, residential community, dedicated professors, and academic excellence. Since its founding in 1910, the University has grown to encompass the following Colleges: College of Business and Economics, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Humanities and Behavioral Sciences, the College of Science and Technology, the Waldron College of Health and Human Services, the College of Visual and Performing Arts, and the College of Graduate and Extended Studies. Currently, 87 percent of the approximately 9,200 students attending the University are pursuing one of the 106 undergraduate degrees. The 38 graduate programs grant the MS, MA, MBA, MFA, MSN, MSW, or EdS degrees. More than one third of students, including all freshmen, live on campus in one of the fifteen residence halls, all configured as two-room suites. A variety of learning/residential communities are available to suit the interests and needs of students. Upperclass students who choose to live off-campus typically rent an apartment within walking distance of the University. The student body is composed of students from many parts of Virginia in addition to 45 other states and 47 foreign countries. The University offers students ample opportunity to participate in overseas study programs. Radford organizes activities including guest speakers, theater performances, concerts, film screenings, Greek events, student publications, radio and television stations, and intramural sports competition. People congregate in the new Hurlburt Student Center to utilize the lounges, recreation facilities, study rooms, and meeting areas. Starbucks, Chik-Fil-A, Tsunami Sushi and other dining options are also available in the student center. Dalton Hall houses a food court, which includes Sbarro Pizzeria, Au Bon Pain, WendyÂ’s and Freshens Frozen Yogurt. The campus bookstore, post office and a newly renovated dining hall are also found in Dalton. The $10.8-million Dedmon Center is home to the University's 19 NCAA Division I athletic teams; it also provides students with comprehensive sports and fitness facilities.
