The February 2007 ACT
ACT English
On the ACT English test, punctuation was one of the most heavily tested concepts on the test; however, there were not nearly as many verb questions as we have seen in recent ACT administrations. On the other hand, idioms and apostrophes also had a greater presence than usual. Additionally, this ACT English test on the whole seemed pretty heavy on content and structure questions: word choice, rearrangement of words, ordering in a paragraph, and the “Does the passage accomplish this goal?”-type questions. Also, there were some longer, complex questions early on, which may have bogged you down. We hope that you skipped around and avoided these time-consuming questions. Overall the ACT English test should have been very doable.
ACT Math
Though the ACT Math test may have seemed harder, overall this test was very approachable. Order of difficulty was relatively straightforward, albeit with challenging questions appearing early on. There were more algebraic equations than usual, but more toward the end.
ACT Reading
The ACT Reading test may have seemed tough because of the inaccessibility of several passages, especially the Prose Fiction and Natural Science passages. However, the actual questions themselves were not that bad. You should have been OK as long as you skipped around and started with the easiest ACT passages first.
ACT Science
The ACT Science test contained two passages that were both difficult to understand and time-consuming. Many ACT test takers remarked they had some difficulty finishing in time, but all in all this science section was on par with what we have seen on recent ACT administrations.
ACT Essay
Lastly, the ACT essay topic was very close to the kinds of topics seen on recent ACTs, so we hope that you were able to brainstorm and attack the prompt quickly and effectively!
