Another thing that makes admission to two-year schools easier is the amount of time devoted to the application process. The application deadlines at many four-year colleges sometimes occur nine months before classes actually begin. At two-year colleges, students can often apply as late as the day that classes begin.
Many two-year schools are committed to recruiting students from the local community. The per-credit cost is usually significantly lower for a local student than it is for students from outside of the area or state. In addition, two-year colleges often hold courses throughout the region they serve. For example, in addition to courses taught at its main campus, a two-year college might also conduct classes at local high schools and education centers. This flexibility allows the college to reach more potential students.
