SAT / PSAT Prep for Sophomores
You've got some time before you have to get into intensive SAT prep, but there are some advance activities you can consider for sophomore year.
PSAT 101 + SAT Course
PSAT 101 offers a low-risk and relaxed way to get familiar with standardized tests like the SAT and PSAT. Remember that the PSAT is basically a watered-down version of the SAT, so it's a good prep for the real thing. Learn more about our PSAT Course 101 and SAT Course.
AP Classes and Exams
If you're taking AP courses, make sure you also take the AP exam in May. College admissions officers tend to frown upon AP students who duck out of the actual exams. More about AP Exams
SAT Subject Tests
In June, you should take the appropriate SAT Subject Test. Most likely this will be either World History or Chemistry. The World History test focuses on non-European cultures, so unless you have AP World History under your belt, you should consider some kind of SAT Subject Tests preparation. (remember, AP European History won't help you on the World History Subject Test).
For the Chemistry test, be aware that it is time-intensive and difficult. You will need to have taken Honors Chemistry to handle this exam.
