Types of Transportation Available to Campus
Greater Pittsburgh International Airport is 20 miles from campus. Buses and limousines available for the trip from the airport to campus. Amtrak trains and Greyhound buses serve Pittsburgh. The Port Authority Transit (PAT) operates the city's public transit system (buses, subway, and light rail line). Contact admissions for further details.
Driving Instructions to Campus
From the Pennsylvania Tpke., take Exit 6 (Pittsburgh) to I-376 W. Follow I-376 (the Pkwy.) W. toward the city. Continue on the Pkwy. through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel; stay in the right lane and exit immediately after the tunnel at Squirrel Hill (Exit 8). Follow the exit ramp and make the first left onto Forward Ave. At the first traffic light, bear left on Murray Ave.; stay on Murray to the dead end. Turn right on Wilkins Ave., and within half a block turn left on Woodland Rd., which leads directly into the college. The entrance is marked on each side by a red brick wall. The distance from the Tpke.'s Exit 6 to the campus is 12 miles.
Chatham's own Gate House, a restored historic residence on campus is available for overnight accommodations and breakfast for a fee (Call the Admissions Office at 1-800-837-1290 to reserve).
Shadyside Bed-and-Breakfast (5516 Fifth Ave., 412-683-6501) is a stone manor house built by a steel magnate at the turn of the century.
The Shadyside Inn (5405 Fifth Ave., 412-441-4444), about a mile away, is a complex of several all-suite buildings designed for short-term apartment stays.
