School's environmental commitment:
1: The School of Business recycles all white paper and the university recently made it easier for faculty, staff, students, and visitors to part with their bottles and cans when they’re out and about, converting half of the campus’s 160 garbage bins into recycling containers. The concrete recycle bins and trash cans are now paired up, with recycle bins designated by a blue ring on the top.
2: The School of Business has replaced all light bulbs and ballasts in its entire complex, using smaller electronic ballast fluorescent lighting fixtures that emit just as much light as larger bulbs but use far less energy. On/off occupancy sensors were also installed in the buildings.
3: The School’s MBA students have the opportunity to participate in competitions related to the environment. The School partners with the South Florida chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI) for one such competition. In one case, MBA students had to develop a project management plan for a recycling initiative in the fictional South Florida community of Coral Green. The entries had to include plans for project scope, process improvement and management of scheduling, costs, quality, staffing, communication, risk and procurement.
