Augusta State University Students Say...

Convenience and cost are the two main reasons students cite for choosing the MBA program at Georgia Regents University (which formed in 2013 when Augusta State University merged with Georgia Health Sciences University). Many students here tell us that they attended the school as undergraduates and saw no reason to leave.

At GRU’s MBA program, “...

At GRU’s MBA program, “Personal attention and career development are a given. Students have to actively work at not being known by the administration and faculty of the business school.” Service is key; despite its relatively small MBA enrollment, “[GRU] has a dedicated educational professional to usher graduate students through the program.” One student notes, “The school is the perfect size. It is small enough to allow for more personal relations between the student and the teacher but is big enough to enjoy all the aspects of attending a college.” A “low teacher/student ratio” and “professors who are approachable and willing to help students” are among the other perks of attending. GRU works hard to accommodate its students’ schedules by offering “almost every needed subject in the program” during the fall and spring semesters.

MBAs at GRU must complete a twelve-course sequence that includes two electives and ten required courses in human resources management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, production management, leadership, management information systems, business research methods, and an integrating course in strategic management. Students tell us that the school has traditionally been recognized for strengths for economics, finance, and accounting, as well as in “certain quantitative-based courses like market research.” In addition, GRU has taken steps in order to better prepare the students for information-based knowledge. Those steps include “recently naming an information technology professor to chair the program.” More More
