Ursinus College requires students to take a "flexible" core. Students are required to take the "Common Intellectual Experience," two semesters of the same foreign language, and one course in each of the following areas: Mathematics, Laboratory Science, Social Science, Humanities and Art. Student chooses courses within these broad academic areas. All must also complete at least two courses emphasizing diversity--one with emphaisis on diversity in the U.S., the other which emphasizes a culture or cultures outside the U.S. Courses fulfilling the latter requirement are designated throughout the curriculum.
