Northern Arizona University is a fully accredited, public, four-year institution with approximately 13,989 full and part-time undergraduate students on its main campus. Founded in 1899, the university is committed to undergraduate education in a friendly campus atmosphere with close student-faculty relationships through classroom teaching of the highest quality and faculty guidance for each student. The University is comprised of the Colleges of Arts and Letters, W.A. Franke College of Business, Education, Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences, and Health and Human Services. 93 undergraduate, 46 master's, 1 professional and 8 doctoral degrees are offered in numerous interdisciplinary and pre-professional majors. With a commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, we offer a wealth of student support services, academic programs, clubs and organizations, and community agencies designed to help all incoming students feel welcome. The student body represents 65 countries, 58 Native American tribes, and all 50 states. Fifty percent of undergraduate students live in 18 campus communities and 226 family apartments on the university's residential campus. Of the 13,989 undergraduates enrolled in fall 2008, 37 percent are men and 64 percent are women. The Gateway Student Success Center provides comprehensive advising and career counseling to help students get started on the right path. At the center, students will learn about required courses, student services, and academic policies and they'll receive individual career counseling that can guide them toward a rewarding career.
