The difference between doing something ordinary or extraordinary can come down to a simple cup of coffee. And those people who think enough of you to take that extra time to connect with you and to mentor you. At more than 2,300 undergraduates, Wilkes UniversityÂ’s small size provides a personal, intimate experience. Experience access to professors unlike that found elsewhere. Get plenty of face time with instructors. Professors can get to know you well enough to learn your strengths and tune into your interests and goals. And youÂ’ll have the chance to put your education to work quickly, whether itÂ’s starting a business under the wing of a professor whoÂ’s built million-dollar businesses or researching a genome with a biologist. Founded in 1933, Wilkes University is a private, co-ed, nondenominational institution in historic Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The academic calendar includes two 15-week semesters, with optional sessions held during the summer and winter breaks. Students hail from 20 states and eight foreign countries. Some other numbers to know: 87% of our faculty have earned their Ph.D. or highest degree in their field; 15:1 student:faculty ratio; our undergraduate classes average 22 students for freshmen, 17 students for upper-level classes, and 15 students for graduate classes.
