Bottom line

“For a public university where one year costs the fraction of one semester at a private university, the quality of the education is excellent,” reports one student. Another raves that at UMass, “a first rate education from world-renowned faculty without leaving you to pay off school loans for a significant part of your life.” Combining affordability and diversity in an urban setting provides undergrads with great access to rewarding employment opportunities. As a heavy commuter school, UMass also caters to the “unconventional” student as much as the regular one. Many students at UMB balance work and school, and one student remarks that the university “offered me the flexibility to keep my job and get my degree.” Says another excited non-traditional undergrad, “I am an older student and UMass has a large number of things I was looking for in a school. It offers a large number of courses during the summer and online so I can get my degree faster.” Finally, one student was pleased that UMass Boston is “on the rise and I wanted to join an up and coming, thriving campus.”
