Degrees Offered: In addition to the J.D. degree, we offer a nine-month Master of Laws (LL.M.) Program for domestic and foreign students seeking a year of advanced legal studies. Specializations are available in Entertainment, Media, and Intellectual Property Law, International and Comparative Law, Critical Race Studies, Public Interest Law, Law and Sexuality, and four separate business-related tracks: Bankruptcy, Business Law, Securities Regulation, Tax. With the approval of the Graduate Studies Committee, students may also design their own specializations. We also offer the Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) degree program. This is a highly selective program open only to applicants who possess a distinguished prior academic record in law, show promise of outstanding scholarship, and demonstrate a high potential for completing a scholarly dissertation of required quality. Applicants must hold a J.D. degree or foreign equivalent and an LL.M. degree (or be enrolled in a program leading to an LL.M. degree).
Joint / Combined Degrees Offered: J.D./M.A. (African American Studies), J.D./M.A. (American Indian Studies), J.D./M.B.A, J.D./Ph.D. (Philosophy), J.D./M.P.H, J.D./M.P.P. ( Public Policy), JD/M.S.W. (Social Welfare), and J.D./M.U.R.P. (Urban and Regional Planning). Students may also create a tailored program by undertaking work from multiple disciplines within UCLA & apply to the JD program; or students may design a joint program with another school with administrative approval.
