Campus Life
General Information: Bastyr University's campus is in Kenmore, just north of Seattle in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The 186,000 square-foot facility rests on 51 acres of fields and woodlands on the northeast shore of Lake Washington. Built in 1959 as a Catholic seminary, the building houses the University's classrooms, laboratories and research facilities, library and reading room, bookstore, conference and seminar space, administrative offices, dining commons, chapel, and eco-friendly dorms. A variety of off-campus apartments and rental homes are available in Seattle and the Juanita, Mountlake Terrace, Bothell and Kenmore areas. Bastyr students thrive in our close-knit and nurturing community, enjoying a campus surrounded by forest -- a peaceful setting for the study and celebration of nature. At Bastyr you will be part of a community that thrives on diversity and the free exchange of ideas. Bastyr also opened a campus in San Diego, California, in fall 2012. Bastyr University California offers the naturopathic medicine program with the same classroom and clinical training as the Kenmore program.
Student Life: Bastyr students participate in a wide variety of activities on campus. Students are involved in the governance system of the University through the Student Council. Others volunteer in the medicinal and culinary herb garden and on various clubs and committees: Herbal Ways, Nutrition Advisory Committee, American Psychological Association, Aikido, African-American Support Group, Student Dietetics Association, Supper Club, Student Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility, various spiritual groups, and various athletic groups. Students benefit from the multidisciplinary curriculum and can take advantage of visiting speakers and weekend workshops on a wide range of natural health topics, including ayurvedic and Oriental medicine and craniosacral massage. Numerous special events throughout the year help create a sense of school identity and a feeling of community.
