Research Facilities
Research Centers: Our Research Department is focused on building a strong foundation for supporting and conducting research at BINM. Research Projects currently underway include The Efficacy Of The Bowen Technique® For The Management Of Sciatic led by Drs Kahrobaei and Leung as well as the Naturopathic Clinical Outcomes Study (NCOS) funded by the Hecht foundation, in collaboration with CCNM. A grant application has been submitted to the Canadian CAM Research Fund for the project entitled A Pilot Study On The Efficacy Of Fish Oil with or without Lifestyle Counseling for The Management Of Metabolic Syndrome in Patients with HIV.

Computer Facilities / Resource Centers: The expanding library collection has over 6800 catalogued books and audiovisual resources as well as the following: • Reference or Reserve copies of required and recommended texts for all academic courses • Numerous periodicals on acupuncture, alternative and complementary therapies, Traditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, and herbal medicine, both in print and on-line. • Two homeopathic software programs on the library computers. • Six electronic databases accessible to students and faculty on and off campus • An extensive list of free electronic resources useful for all medical students, doctors and health professionals. • Anatomic models • A collection of historical books significant to naturopathy BINM was the chosen recipient of the Tzu Chi Institute’s resource collection when it lost funding and closed in 2003. This wonderful collection on alternative health research and treatment established a solid foundation for our current growing collection.

General Information: The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine is located in the 46,000 sq. ft. Boucher Centre in New Westminster, BC Canada and houses a busy Sky Train Station, part of the region's rapid transit system, and provides a view of the mighty Fraser River. The Boucher Institute currently occupies approximately 25,000 sq. ft. in the building, including classrooms, administrative offices, an active teaching clinic of 12 treatment rooms and plenty of room to grow. Established in 2001, the Boucher Institute is Western Canada 's only accredited college of naturopathic medicine, offering both a four-year full-time program of study and an innovative six-year part-time program culminating in a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine diploma.
Student Life: Student life involves a deep connection with classmates in the small classes at BINM. The Boucher Naturopathic Students Association is an active member of campus life, ensuring a variety of social activities to balance the intense academic load. An elected representative sits as a full voting member of the Board of Governors. Students work together and help one another to achieve a high standard of learning. Collaborative projects begin in the first week of school and continue throughout. Students live anywhere in the Lower Mainland and enjoy access within minutes of the school to downtown Vancouver, the snow-capped coastal mountains, fertile farmlands, and the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean.
