Career Experience
In college, I wrote thesis papers for my major and minor, as well as countless other essays. My most satisfying and challenging academic moments have come from writing. Since graduating, I have worked as a classroom teacher at Oregon's largest science museum, as a program manager at an educational non-profit, and as a private tutor working with young adults.
I Love Tutoring Because
I benefitted from supportive, inspiring tutors and teachers throughout my life. Being a tutor lets me be that for a young person, helping them develop confidence and agency in how they learn. Learning without fear of failure is core to my philosophy. Students can always turn to technology to offer an answer, but how can students learn to think creatively and independently? Tutoring offers the opportunity to learn concrete concepts necessary for school and life, while also giving students a chance to think on their own, free from pressure.
