Career Experience
Hi! My name is Rachael, I'm a biomedical software engineer and neuroscientist by training. I regularly develop software in Python, Java, and C#, for both Windows and Android, as well as teach Git version control and clean code concepts. I've frequently used machine learning and image analysis in my work. I've worked directly with human subjects in research surrounding the automation of physical therapy, have training on biomedical research ethics and patient information, and can provide insight on processes surrounding clinical trials. I can provide advice and context about college and graduate program choices as well. I have significant experience with the difficulties that can come from trying to navigate academia, and intentionally crafting study strategies based on the brain of the individual in question. I have learned over time how to advocate with professors and administrators to find resources when necessary, and would be happy to help students through similar processes. I have a significant amount of experience with neurodivergence of different types both within and outside of my main career path, and will always approach tutoring with relevant neuroscience research in mind. My research has focused on interdisciplinary work, which has taught me a lot about how to translate and communicate between individuals with different backgrounds, knowledge bases, skills, and neurotypes.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love learning, teaching, and helping people strategize. I think it's really important to treat students as human beings rather than assets or units of work, help them build a toolbox to make their least favorite tasks easier, and help them identify what they actually enjoy sooner rather than later so they can get more involved with it.
