#### Career Experience

I have five years of teaching experience gained through leading introductory physics labs over the course of three master's degrees in physics and astronomy. I also worked in the tutor room. After graduation, I spent a year volunteering as a text-based tutor on science discussion and math help forums. Following that, I worked as a calculus, physics, astronomy, and statistics tutor (independent contractor) for several months. In my fifteen years of research experience in physics and astronomy, my expertise was in gravitational waves, black holes, and general relativity. I also studied particle physics, neutrinos, cosmology, and fractional calculus. Ten of those years were in scientific computing-- numerical and statistical methods for C++, Python, Matlab, Fortran, and Java. I still participate in research through numerically solving a differential equation for star orbits governed by Newtonian physics in Python on a volunteer basis.

#### I Love Tutoring Because

I love making a meaningful difference in students' lives. The central goal is to help them understand concepts, the connections to important science today, and strategies for solving problems. I have a step-by-step process I teach students for problem solving, especially in physics. We begin by drawing a diagram, then identify target variables and known quantities. From there, we make use of concepts to help narrow the field to a few equations on the equation sheet, then identify the best using the knowns and unknowns. Shoring up algebra and calculus should solve the problem. Similar approaches work in other subjects. As students benefit from tutoring, there's a real pleasure in seeing students succeed. I have a passion for science and math, and I look forward to sharing it. I look forward to working with you!
