Located in Pilar, Argentina, IAE Business School's intensive MBA programs maintain an "excellent reputation in Argentina and throughout Latin America," a strong global focus throughout the curriculum, and "regionally-related" course material for those interested in Latin American business. The rigorous, multicultural, bilingual program (classes are taught in Spanish and English) has been honed over time to provide a quality education to its students. As the school's website states, the one-year MBA program "is the result of the thirty-five-year experience IAE has acquired in providing part-time Executive MBA programs and the contributions of many years.

IAE's one-year MBA has a daily schedule that runs from 9:00 A.m . to 6:00 P .m . The program begins with a leveling course, during which students are reacquainted with fundamental quantitative skills in statistics, mathematics, and accounting. After completing these basic proficiencies, students begin the core curriculum, which focuses on three areas: technical skills; critical thinking skills that teaches you new ways to approach both professional and personal problems; and teamwork skills. The school also offers several elective courses, as well as a Team Building and Outdoor Activities module, designed to promote problem-solving skills in a playful environment. Throughout the MBA, international business and Latin American business context are emphasized. The school's international student body adds depth and perspective to the discussion on global issues.

Students speak highly of the program, describing their professors as "excellent, friendly and student-oriented." "Most of them have PhDs, and they have a lot of patience. They always are able to help you inside and outside the class." A student adds, "They are always available to answer the questions or [have] meetings to study specific and interesting topics." The program runs smoothly, and this ease is especially important given the amount of work that the MBA requires. As one MBA notes, "The administration provides exceptional service. It is well prepared for the needs of its classmates: Everything we need is available for us." Perhaps most important, "IAE has very good contacts with businesses in Latin America, and a very important aspect is that it provides us with academic and executive mentors."

Among other services, they offer mentoring programs, on-campus interviews, individual and group career counseling, and career develop- ment workshops. Despite the school's international focus, students report that "the department is underdeveloped, especially in the international job market." The alumni network, on the other hand, "is unbelievable," according to students; one reports, "I could speak to many important executives from the best companies in country because they were alumni." Today, IAE graduates are working in diverse countries, including Germany, Malaysia, the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Employers who have worked with IAE include Eli Lilly, Glaxo Smithkline (GSK), Kimberly Clark, Halliburton, Philips, Grupo Assa, Novo Nordisk, Thomson Reuters, Mapfre, Johnson & Johnson, Maersk, entre otras.

Campus Life

Students Say

IAE's campus "is located in Pilar, fifty kilometers from Buenos Aires" the capitol of Argentina, in a beautiful setting with a lot of trees, flowers, and greenery everywhere. The campus building and facilities are incredible, providing all the technical resources needed and, in the surrounding community, you can find everything near the campus: a mall, restaurants, supermarkets, movies, gas stations, etc. Campus facilities include areas where students "can play soccer, tennis, and rugby during the two-hour lunch break." Big-city life isn't too far off, as "the campus is one hour away from Buenos Aires." Students note, however, that "since IAE's program is a one-year MBA, the workload is so heavy that there is very little time to do activities outside the classroom." Classes con- vene from 9:00 A.m . to 6:00 P .m .; most students "study until 9:00 P .m ., then have some dinner with friends," and stop for the day. Despite the rigors of the program, "the nice environment, people, and landscape make you enjoy every moment."

Drawing a largely international student body, only about 54 percent of IAE's MBA stu- dents are Argentine; the remaining 46 percent of students come from other parts of Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Students are drawn from all sectors, including marketing, banking, consulting, engineering, services, and even agriculture. Students are "very different but open-minded," and universally described as "very supportive" of their classmates. In addition to their professional prowess, most "have great senses of humor, don't hesitate to help one another, and enjoy hanging out."
