Students Say

The return on investment at Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Eberly College of Business and Information Technology is hard to beat; students pay a low cost per credit (with plenty of graduate assistantships available) and have the options of both a Full-Time and Part-Time On-Campus MBA, with concentrations available in professional accountancy, information systems, finance, human resource management, international business, marketing, and supply chain management. Summer classes are held online, and many classes are scheduled for evenings to accommodate working professionals. Undergraduate students at IUP can begin working towards their MBA in their senior year to complete the degree two semesters after graduation, essentially creating a fast-track degree program that minimizes flux.

Professors are “willing to go way above and beyond for students” and are always around “not only during school, but post-graduation for advice or referrals.” They are “extremely experienced and helpful” and some are even lofty enough “look up to as role models.” There is a great amount of knowledge to be gained from faculty “from a theory perspective” as well as a broader one; “exams are designed well,” and there is an “ease of access to professors and facilities.” A focus on small and local businesses is a unique but necessary tool that IUP stresses in its curriculum, and case study projects involve local businesses such as the Jimmy Stewart Airport and Indiana Regional Medical Center.

Students Say

The greatest job preparation comes through the team activities facilitated by the Management Services Group; students work on case studies in teams through the Small Business Institute and study local businesses, and “everyone was happy to work together and help everyone out.” “[It] felt very much like how a department in a business should run,” says one student. Additional business outreach centers and incubators within the Management Services Group let students gain additional experience in more niche areas such as competitive analysis, social media marketing, and facilities planning. Industry visits incorporate real-world situations into the curriculum, and provide a chance for students to network and make on-site connections with potential future employers. While students do wish there were more career fairs with more top companies, the alumni network is strong and always willing to help out. Recent employers of IUP MBAs include BNY Mellon, IBM, Prudential, BNP Paribus, Dow Chemical, Citizens Bank, Accenture, Coca-Cola, and Ernst & Young.

Campus Life

From The School

Students Say

This bunch of “incredibly friendly, hard-working individuals” is “extremely welcoming” and the diverse culture “makes it easy for almost anybody around the world to come to this school,” with everyone bringing a different view to the table. There is a large international contingent at IUP, with a range of cultural events and groups to match, and there are “more clubs and associations than one could even imagine.” A sizable portion of MBA students come directly from undergrad, particularly IUP itself, so the “very warm and helpful” student body skews young, and “scholastic diversity” can be a bit lacking. The school is in a small town so “anywhere you live is within walking distance of the campus,” but there is also “a great on-campus life” to be found, which is “alive with activities.”
