Faculty Information

Students Say

Auburn University's online MBA program mirrors its on-campus program with distance learners taking advantage of the same classes, professors, and assignments that brick and mortar students complete. "Auburn does a good job of keeping the online student engaged and feeling like part of the family." Courses are filmed and can be live streamed by students or downloaded as a podcast, audio or video file to their computers or mobile devices for a self-paced, flexible experience. One student explains: "As an online student, I'm going through the exact same course of study as the on-campus students." MBA students choose from five concentrations in accounting, finance, information systems, marketing, or supply chain management. Students say that the "Auburn name carries weight" and that the online program offers "the ideal hybrid of pedigree, cost, and convenience." Technologically, the presentation software is "very good": "They record every lecture where we can stream live or watch at any point during the semester…. [Lecture videos] are even formatted [so you can] take notes electronically and save it at the same point the instructor is talking about it." The professors are "very considerate of online students," and most "have industry background," which makes their teaching more practical and not pure[ly] academic." Students aren't required to complete an immersion program, but coursework does place a "heavy emphasis on group work, which teaches flexibility, compromise, leadership, and teamwork skills." New students are also encouraged to attend an orientation "boot camp" before the beginning their first semester. "Auburn does a really good job of connecting its online students with each other," and "we are often working with teammates from all over the country who have different experiences, opinions and perspectives." Students find their online peers to be "energetic, highly motivated" and "welcoming." "The program is time consuming" but the ability to make your own schedule keeps the work/life balance "manageable."
