Faculty Information

Students Say

Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business has been accredited by the AACSB for over 40 years, and its Online MBA Program offers working professionals a distance learning program with concentrations in strategic business management or strategic healthcare management. Online students may choose between a two-year "cohort option" or a self-paced "non-cohort option" (after completing one semester of courses) with a maximum of five years to earn the degree. Students are attracted to Hofstra's "great reputation" and to its "challenging and rewarding" online program. One student remarked, "What sealed the deal with me was the global studies [requirement] which was mandatory for graduation." Once enrolled, students take advantage of the "strong connection between student members of the cohort." Their fellow Hostra colleagues are "mature," "diligent and sincere" and often have "healthcare and business backgrounds." Students say that faculty and staff form a "great support system." One student confides, "They were supportive and provided feedback that allowed me to elevate my academic performance, keeping me engaged in the program content." Likewise, professors are "engaged" and "responsive to questions," making the "quality of professors and coursework" one of Hofstra's biggest strengths. Immersive experiences, like "a 10-day excursion to visit business sites in China," provide opportunities to have "excellent interactions with professors and other classmates." Hofstra's online MBA courses are conducted using Blackboard LMS with several add-on technologies, including: examity® proctoring, VoiceThread, and Zoom video conferencing. Students say they are "very happy with how technology is leveraged." The program is "challenging," and "day-to-day life is very busy," but students feel they are able to maintain a work-life balance.

Career Services Overview

Students Say

In addition to Hofstra's "great teachers," students praise the quality of course content, particularly the Global Practicum on Strategy—a weeklong international immersion experience in one or two countries—as adding value to their MBA. "My experience has opened doors to professional and personal development that would not have otherwise been available . . . It helped me become a leader," one student attests. Hofstra students are career-seasoned, with an average entering age of 36 and an average 11 years of work experience. They're optimistic about their futures past graduation, expecting about a 4 percent salary increase with their MBA, and 18 percent of graduates receive a promotion while still attending the program. Leadership management, operations, and teamwork are curricular strengths, according to students.
