Faculty Information

Students Say

North Carolina State University's Professional Online MBA program, housed within the Jenkins School of Management, offers students a dynamic blend of innovative curriculum, flexibility, and academic specialization. In the program, which can be completed in less than two or up to six years, students may opt to attend face-to-face classes in Raleigh or the professionally rich Research Triangle Park (RTP), concentrate their studies in biosciences management, entrepreneurship & technology, financial management, innovation management, marketing management, or supply chain management, obtain certification in SAP or decision analytics, or even obtain a dual JD, doctorate of veterinary medicine, or master's in accounting, industrial engineering, global innovation management, or microbial biotechnology. NCSU's position in the biotech nexus of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and RTP is a major career bonus. Academically, it is a "robust program that challenges" students and provides them with "real time" skills that they can apply in their careers while offering the flexibility students need "as a full time employee and [parent]." "Courses are taught by industry leading experts or renown distinguished professors." Additionally, students value the program's "strong name recognition in [North Carolina]" and the ability to attend classes and access professors in person as well as online. Administrators are "cognizant of student needs" and "committed to helping solve problems." Students say their classmates are "engaged, prepared and hard workers" who have over 10 years of work experience on average and provide "intellectually stimulating" conversations. The diverse student body brings a wide "range of areas of expertise" into discussion and team projects, which can create engaging "group work dynamics." While students can take classes in person, online classes are totally asynchronous, which affords students greater flexibility. A practicum course aligns students into virtual teams where they take on "a real project for a company client." Students are definitely "much busier" than usual while earning their online MBA, but balance is "manageable," and students are confident that "this work will pay off after graduation."

The Jenkins Career Management Center (CMC) understands career management needs for working professionals are unique and varied. Our flexible format, customized approach and commitment to all Jenkins MBA students are directly tied to their career success. Examples of services: Networking Mixers On a periodic basis, the CMC will host networking events and guest speakers, and we aim to schedule for online students during one of the two required three-day residencies. We record when we can and welcome local online students to attend any/all. Job Boards On-campus recruiters who are interested in our MBAs typically look for candidates within 9 months of graduation. Online students may participate in the on-campus recruiter process, but will be asked to submit a resume and take advantage of some virtual teaching modules to prepare for the experience. Virtual Resources and Tools Professional MBA students are not on campus during weekday daytime hours, and Online students not at all. We have created a Virtual Career Center where you have 24/7 access to Interactive tools designed to help us to educate and connect with you. The CMC maintains a library of high-quality virtual materials covering management guidance, tools and videos that are continuously updated. Career Coaching The Jenkins CMC puts the needs of our students first. In addition to 1:1 face-to-face meetings, we meet via video conference, phone and email. During these sessions, topics of coaching range from personal branding to interview preparation to salary negotiation, ensuring you begin to build your ideal career. Workshops & Webinars The Jenkins CMC hosts numerous face-to-face workshops to cover important topics such as best-in-class resume optimization, networking and interviewing. These are typically held on Main Campus (Raleigh) from 4:30-5:45 pm. The CMC captures lecture-style workshops on video. And, once a month, the CMC hosts a webinar for students who do not visit campus.
