The Lee Business School at the University of Nevada—Las Vegas offers two MBA tracks. One is an evening MBA, which students can complete either fullor part-time, and the other is an Executive MBA, designed for working professionals who plan to continue working full-time while pursuing their MBA. “For working students or students, who need to balance family life, this is the perfect environment.” The evening program can be completed in two to four years, and students may opt to concentrate in one of the following fields: finance, human resources management, marketing, management information systems and new venture management. Students must complete forty-eight credit hours, thirty-three of which are devoted to a core curriculum. An accelerated program is open to students in the evening program who have a minimum score of 600 on the GMAT. Students must also exceed the 50th percentile on both the verbal and quantitative skills portion of the GMAT. Another prerequisite for the Executive MBA is an undergraduate business degree from an AACSB-accredited university.

The Executive MBA is an eighteen-month program during which all students follow the same general course of study. Students should have seven years work experience prior to applying, and of those seven years, three must be in “a key decision-making role.” Classes take place every Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is an initial full-week intensive prior to the start of classes. UNLV also offers joint degrees. Students also have the option to pursue one of four dual programs: the MBA/ JD (Juris Doctor), the MBA/DDM (Doctor of Dental Medicine), the MBA/MS in Hotel Administration and the MBA/MS in Management Information Systems. Students choose UNLV due to its “location, affordability, and flexibility.” It’s the “only school in the state with AACSB accreditation,” and students say “UNLV has the best hotel program.” Some wish UNLV offered an additional specialization, one which might help them better prepare for work in “green jobs.”

“UNLV’s best attribute is the willingness of its professors to help students. Because half the students work full-time, they are very flexible when it come to scheduling office hours or addressing questions through email.” “Professors come prepared for lectures” and “treat MBA students like professionals.” The curriculum is “well organized,” and professors stay on top of pertinent issues. “I feel I have gotten a superb exposure to the current business environment from them.” Professors are also equipped with bedside manner. They “are always friendly and willing to help further explain difficult topics.” Students praise “the use of teamwork, in almost every aspect of class.” As for the administration, they “promptly respond to requests by phone and email.”
