Career Experience
I have tutored students from elementary through college age. Most of my public school teaching career was with juniors in high school who learned to write essays that passed the AP exam and earned them college credit for the class. My colleagues would have me proof read texts they were publishing because I know grammar very well. I have edited manuscripts for a few authors. I coached speech and debate teams and directed high school plays and Christmas and Easter programs.
I Love Tutoring Because
I enjoy helping students find answers to their questions and discover how to approach problems in a way that makes them manageable. I love working with people who want to learn, develop their own skills, and find resources they can access for help in the future. I’m delighted when students no longer need me because they have learned how to approach each assignment on their own—have developed the skills and gathered the resources to find their own answers. Even then, I’m glad to proofread and help each writer polish their writing.
