Career Experience
My science career began as a research technician, working on fatty acid metabolism in platelets and their bone marrow precursors. After a couple of years, I went to graduate school, where I majored in physiology, began tutoring medical students, and worked on my research project on membrane structure and function in pressure-overloaded hearts. Following my graduation, I did a postdoctoral fellowship in a lab where I learned more molecular biology and biochemical techniques, while studying signal transduction in cardiac cells. I have continued my research on signal transduction as a faculty member, where I have taught physiology, and molecular and cellular biology. In the lab, I have regularly used my knowledge of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, and biostatistics.
I Love Tutoring Because
I enjoy being able to help a student, who comes in unsure of a concept or how to approach a problem, leave the session feeling confident that “I get it now!”
