The Princeton Review 2019 College Hopes & Worries Survey Sweepstakes Official Rules


1. PROMOTION PERIOD  The Princeton Review 2019 College Hopes & Worries Survey Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) starts at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) on January 21, 2019 and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on February 22, 2019 (the “Promotion Period”).

2. ELIGIBILITY:  This Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 13 years of age or older as of date of entry and enrolled in a school. Minors, who are between 13 and 17 years of age, or otherwise considered a minor in their State of residence, must obtain their parents’ or legal guardians’ permission prior to participating. Employees, officers and directors and their immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings and children and those living in the same households) and their affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors, and marketing agencies are not eligible to participate. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

3. HOW TO ENTER:  You may enter the Sweepstakes during the Promotion Period in any of the following ways: (i) online, by completing the survey at (limit one entry in this manner) and /or (ii) by mail, by hand printing your name (If you are a minor, you must include your parent or legal guardian’s name), complete address, email address, and date of birth either on a postcard or on a separate piece of paper no larger than 8 ½ X 11 inches, and mailing the postcard or paper in an envelope with the proper postage affixed to “The Princeton Review, Attn: College Hopes & Worries Survey Sweepstakes, 110 E. 42nd Street, 7th floor, New York, NY 10017”. Limit one (1) entry per stamped envelope. Entrants using US mail may enter as often as they wish. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by March 1, 2019 and received by March 8, 2019. Mechanically reproduced or pre-printed mailing labels, or entries generated by script, macro or other automated or mechanical means, and entries by any other means which subvert the entry process will not be accepted. Mechanical stamping machines are acceptable. Incorrect, illegible, corrupt, and/or incomplete entries are void. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. By submitting an entry, entrant agrees to abide by the terms of these Official Rules.

4. RANDOM DRAWING:  On or about March 11, 2019, Sponsor will select one (1) entry at random from among all eligible entries received. Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received. If the selected winner is not an eligible to win the prize, fails to comply with the Official Rules and/or to submit any required documentation within the designated period, declines the prize for any reason, or cannot be reached using the contact information provided in the entry, that winner will be disqualified and the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner in a random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries.

5. WINNER NOTIFICATION  The winner will be notified via the contact information provided in the entry. If winner is a minor in his or her state of residence, the minor’s parent or legal guardian will be notified, prior to awarding a prize. If the winner is a minor in his or her state of residence, the prize may be awarded to a minor's parent or legal guardian. The winner (of if a minor, the winner’s parent or guardian) may be required to sign and return affidavit of Eligibility, Release of Liability and Publicity Release within seven (7) days of attempted delivery or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be selected. The return of any prize or prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate winner may be selected. The winner may be required to supply a Social Security Number prior to the award of prize. Sponsor may file an IRS Form 1099 with the Internal Revenue Service for the fair market value of any prize.

Additionally, the first name and initial of last name of the confirmed winner may be posted on Sponsor’s social media accounts.

6. PRIZES AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (“ARV”):  One (1) First Prize winner will receive one (1) $2,000.00 cash prize (ARV: $2,000.00). Twenty-five (25) second prize winners will receive a choice of one of the following books: Paying For College Without Going Broke, Colleges That Create Futures, or Best Value Colleges. (ARV: $19.00 each, total $475.00). Total ARV: $2,475.00. Limit one prize per family/household. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. No cash substitution, assignment, or transfer of any prize permitted. In the event a prize is unavailable, Sponsor reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Winner is responsible for all applicable federal, state and local taxes, if any, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with prize acceptance and use not specified herein as being provided. If a winner is found to have violated these Official Rules, or otherwise does not meet the eligibility criteria, such prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner in a random drawing from among all remaining entries.

7. PRIZE FULFILLMENT  If the First Prize winner is over the age of 18 (and above the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside), then a check will be issued in the winner’s name within two (2) weeks following receipt of the Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release. If the Grand Prize winner is minor in his or her state of residence, then a check will be issued in the name of the winner’s parent or legal guardian within two (2) weeks following receipt of the parent’s Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release. Second prize winners will be contacted regarding selecting their choice of book, and that book will be mailed within 2 weeks of selection.

8. INTERNET:  If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned due to an infection by a computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. The Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by the Sponsor due to technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participating in this Sweepstakes or downloading any materials in this Sweepstakes. SPONSOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR INCOMPATIBILITY OF ENTRANT'S HARDWARE, SOFTWARE OR BROWSER TECHNOLOGY WITH SPONSOR'S HARDWARE, SOFTWARE OR BROWSER TECHNOLOGY. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHERREMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

9. GRANT OF RIGHTS:  By entering the Sweepstakes, each entrant (and if entrant is considered a minor in his/her state of residence, then the parent or legal guardian of entrant) grants Sponsor and its affiliates, (collectively, the “Released Entities”) the right to use, publish, display, reproduce, modify, edit, and create derivative of the entrant’s name (first name and initial of last name) and information entered in the survey entry, throughout the universe, in all media and formats, whether now known or later developed, for commercial purposes and any other purposes including, without limitation, advertising and promotion, without further compensation unless prohibited by law.

10. PRIVACY:  Entrant information submitted will be collected in accordance with Sponsor’s Privacy Policy, which can be found at

11. GENERAL:  By entering Sweepstakes, entrant accepts and agrees to these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which shall be final in all matters. By accepting prize, winners agree to hold Sponsor and its affiliates and their directors, officers, employees and agents harmless against any and all claims and liability arising out of use of prize. Acceptance also constitutes permission for Sponsor to use winner’s name and likeness for marketing purposes without further compensation or right of approval, unless prohibited by law. The information that you provide in connection with the Sweepstakes may be used for Sponsor's internal purposes and to send you information about Sponsor's products and special promotions and may be shared with Sponsor’ affiliates or third parties.

New York NY, 10017. Please specify “Official Rules” or “Winners List” and the contest name on the front the envelope. VT residents need not include return postage for Official Rules requests.
