Clarkson students enjoy extraordinary opportunities to pursue faculty-mentored research with unusual access to the same equipment as graduate students. Our undergraduate research program has produced 15 Goldwater Scholars in nine years. As part of our Common Experience Curriculum, students gain professional experience through internships and co-ops with corporations and government organizations, and can broaden their perspectives through a wide range of study-abroad opportunities. In fact, the School of Business requires an international experience. Clarkson's emphasis on experiential learning extends across other team-based, open-ended projects. For example, every student majoring in business gains firsthand experience by actually running a business. More than 250 undergraduates annually participate in competitive design competitions through SPEED - Student Projects for Engineering Experience & Design. Projects involve engineering design and analysis, fabrication, budget management and marketing.
Clarkson's 98% placement rate is among the nation's highest, with the most recent starting salaries averaging over $50,800. Clarkson is a key recruitment source for internships, co-ops and full-time hires for many of America's industry leaders, including General Electric, Target, Accenture, IBM and Procter & Gamble. A growing number of students pursue tech start-up companies as a way to build resumes and gain valuable experience to advance innovation.
