Mercer University, with campuses in Macon, Atlanta, and Savannah, Georgia and regional centers around the state, receives its accreditation from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. U.S. News and World Report has ranked Mercer among the leading universities in the South, both for value and quality of education, for 18 consecutive years.

Mercer's exceptional reputation springs from its sound academic programs, excellent faculty, and modern facilities. Tradition, however, is also a central component of this institution's unique identity. Mercer's commitment to Judeo-Christian values and its dedication to intellectual and religious freedom truly distinguish the University.

Mercer enrolls over 8,300 students in its 11 schools. With 2,500 undergraduates studying at the main campus, undergraduates enjoy small classes (average class size is 21) made possible by the 13:1 student/faculty ratio (an unusually low ratio for a university of its size). While a majority of Mercer students come from the Southeast, the student body is representative of at least 48 states and 24 countries. All students gain from Mercer's friendly atmosphere, excellent teaching (by faculty members only, never by teaching assistants), and small classes. Mercer instructors hold degrees from some of the most prestigious institutions in the world; they excel in both their research and teaching abilities. Nearly all hold Ph.D.s or the equivalent terminal degree in their fields.

Undergraduates may choose from a range of housing options, including conventional dormitories, apartment-style residences, and Greek houses. Mercer is an active campus, home to more than 120 clubs and organizations; among their number are academic clubs, honor societies, performing arts organizations, special interest groups, and religious groups. Ten fraternities and seven sororities play a central role in the community, providing social outlets and performing a wide assortment of community services. ROTC is another option available to Mercer undergraduates.

Mercer's athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and the Atlantic Sun Conference. The University fields teams in men's baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, lacrosse, tennis, and soccer, and women's basketball, cross-county, golf, sand volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis, and court volleyball.
