The Princeton Review & Entrepreneur Name The Top 25 Undergrad & Grad Schools For Entrepreneurship Studies For 2016

NEW YORK, November 10, 2015 / — The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine today announced the results of The Princeton Review's 10th annual survey that names the 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate schools best for entrepreneurship studies.

Babson College captured the #1 spot on the undergraduate entrepreneurship programs ranking list for the 4th consecutive year. Harvard University finished #1 on the graduate entrepreneurship programs list for the 2nd consecutive year.

Out of more than 300 schools offering entrepreneurship studies that The Princeton Review surveyed, 36 institutions' undergraduate and/or graduate programs made the roster of top schools for 2016. The two lists of top 25 undergraduate and graduate schools for entrepreneurship studies follow.

The Princeton Review today posted the lists at This area on company’s website also has information on the methodology for the survey, criteria for the rankings, and detailed profiles of the schools.

The rankings will also be published in the December issue of Entrepreneur, available on newsstands November 17 and on Entrepreneur's feature on the lists also reports on the kinds of real-world insights, emerging trends and business ideas that fuel the entrepreneurial spirit shared across the campuses on the lists.

The Princeton Review conducted its survey for this project from May through August 2015. The 60-question survey asked schools to report on levels of their commitment to entrepreneurship studies inside and outside the classroom. More than three dozen data points were analyzed for the tally that determined the rankings. Topics covered included: the percentage of faculty, students, and alumni actively and successfully involved in entrepreneurial endeavors, the number and reach of mentorship programs, scholarships and grants for entrepreneurial studies, and the level of support for school-sponsored business plan competitions.

The 2016 list includes four newcomers to the undergraduate list: Loyola Marymount University (#14), Belmont University (#16), Monterrey Institute of Technology in Mexico (#23), and the University of Utah (#24). Four schools are new on the graduate list: the University of Maryland – College Park (#18), Saint Louis University (#19), the University of Rochester (#22), and Oklahoma State University (#23).

Many schools that made the lists have exceptional offerings. Among them, Rice University, #6 on the graduate list, offers one of the largest and richest graduate student business plan competitions. Last year, it awarded $1,228,350 for student entrepreneurial projects. At Northeastern University, #5 on the undergraduate list, the student-run accelerator provides students, faculty, and alumni with funding and services that have helped launch 30 companies. It currently has 170 active ventures in its portfolio. At the University of Michigan, #7 on the undergraduate list, its Center for Entrepreneurship gives students one-on-one access to entrepreneurs, innovation training, and “Startup Treks” to entrepreneurial businesses in other cities. Its annual events include "1000 Pitches," "MHacks," and an "Entrepalooza Symposium."

These colleges and b-schools have superb entrepreneurship programs, said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review's Senior VP-Publisher. We highly recommend them to any applicant aspiring to launch a business. Their faculties are truly engaged in entrepreneurism. Their courses are rich with in-class and out-of-class experiential components, and the financial and networking support their students and programs receive via donors and alumni is extraordinary.

Formal instruction and mentorship from great minds in business can help leaders prepare for the challenges that come with entrepreneurship, said Amy Cosper, VP and editor in chief of Entrepreneur magazine. The schools in our annual list have ranked high for creating some of the best environments to nurture the pursuit of building a business from the ground up.

The Princeton Review has partnered with Entrepreneur Media Inc. on this project since 2006. Only schools that participate in The Princeton Review entrepreneurship program survey are eligible for consideration for the rankings. The company also reports school rankings in several other categories in its annual books The Best 380 Colleges, Colleges That Pay You Back, The Best 295 Business Schools, and The Best 173 Law Schools.
