In this spirit, Abraham Lincoln chose Knox's Old Main as his platform to advocate for unity, equality, and freedom during the historic Lincoln-Douglas debates.

Today, Knox's egalitarian spirit lives on in our commitment to give every student a voice and an education that enables lifelong learning and the Freedom to Flourish. A student-established Honor Code guides academic and intellectual integrity.

Knox also celebrates one of the most culturally diverse campuses in the U.S. with 1,392 students from 48 states and 46 countries, including 21% U.S. students of color and 7% international students.

As independent thinkers, Knox students actively plan their own program of study. More than 80% complete hands-on work through research, independent study, internships, creative projects, and off-campus study. Knox devotes much of its resources toward developing and supporting experiential learning opportunities.

Knox follows a 3-3 calendar - 3 terms with 3 classes per term. Popular programs include: Biology, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Economics, English, International Relations, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Physics, Political Science, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, and Psychology - as well as internships and study abroad.

Classes are taught by distinguished scholar-teachers, 96% of whom have a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their field - more than 60% have been published or publicly honored in the past 3 years. A 12:1 student-faculty ratio and small classes averaging 17 students allow for one-on-one student-professor interaction.

Knox students embrace extracurricular activities for fun, athletics, and social causes - the College has more than 100 clubs and organizations. Our radio station, WVKC, has been ranked as one of the top 10 nationwide. And our internationally acclaimed Catch is the country's oldest collegiate literary magazine.

Knox athletic programs include 21 NCAA Division III teams, and 11 club and intramural sports teams. The Prairie Fire is the official moniker of Knox's sports teams.
