At Saint Michael's, we believe that a college education should prepare students not only for a meaningful career, but for a meaningful life.

That's why our students start by building a strong liberal studies foundation, then dive deep into their majors. By the time they graduate, they've developed essential skills and knowledge that will help them be successful in any field. And in the meantime, they've also been engaged in service (through our popular MOVE program), in the great outdoors (with our ground-breaking Wilderness Program and Smuggs' Ski Pass), and with the close campus community in meaningful ways that educate the body, mind and spirit.

And happiness matters. At Saint Michael's, you'll find bright, engaged, friendly, happy students and faculty. Our formula for happiness is our close campus community, our perspective-changing exploration of the liberal arts, our legacy of faith and service, and our stunning Vermont location. All this happiness and engagement underscores Saint Michael's successes: We are among only 270 colleges and universities nationwide to host a prestigious Phi Beta Kappa chapter on campus. We are ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the country by U.S. News and World Report and we are included in the exclusive Fiske Guide to Colleges. Our recent graduates are Rhodes Scholars, Pickering Fellows, medical students, law students, dental students, medical researchers, pharmacists, new media specialists, sports writers, non-profit directors and more. Alumni include a United States Senator, one of the founders of MTV, noted authors, scientists, investment bankers, social workers, teachers, professors and scholars. No matter what career paths they choose, our alumni take with them a solid liberal arts foundation, a strong sense of self and a desire to give back to their communities.

Students at Saint Michael's are seriously involved with life on campus, taking on leadership roles, rallying support for worthy causes and generally making things happen. Saint Michael's student-run Fire and Rescue squad serves the communities surrounding campus and is the second busiest emergency response team in the state of Vermont. Because everyone lives on campus (student housing is guaranteed for all four years), there's an incredible sense of community, and you'll always find someone ready for whatever adventures you have in mind, from taking on a research project to rock climbing. Nearly one third of St. Mike's students study abroad for a semester, an academic year or a summer.

Saint Michael's student-athletes are just that-students first. They work just as hard in the classroom as they do on the field. Saint Michael's has the highest student-athlete graduation rate (99%) of any of the Northeast 10's 16 colleges and universities.

Twenty-five percent of our students participate in varsity sports and just about everyone takes part in intramurals, Wilderness Program adventures and our ski pass program at Smugglers' Notch. Wilderness survival training, from beginner to advanced certification levels, focuses on extensive leadership development. More More
