Description
LMU’s primary support office for minority undergraduates is Ethnic & Intercultural Services (EIS). EIS is a student-centered department that provides culturally sensitive support services and programs for Loyola Marymount University’s (LMU) diverse student body. EIS works to enhance the intercultural community and cultivate a fully inclusive community enriched by persons of different ethnicities, nationalities, genders, economic backgrounds, ages, abilities, sexual orientations, and spiritual values. EIS is grounded by LMU's intercultural values and serves as a resource for all students as they prepare for the challenges and rewards of living in a diverse society. EIS consists of five offices (Asian Pacific Student Services, Chicano Latino Student Services, Intercultural Affairs/Sexual and Gender Equity, Office of Black Student Services, and Jewish Student Services) that reflect LMU’s rich diversity and work in concert to empower all students to participate fully in campus life and achieve personal success, with a special focus on helping first-year students transition to university life. http://www.lmu.edu/studentlife/studentaffairs/interculturalism/eis/about.htm The Academic Community of Excellence (ACE) strategically prepares undergraduate scholars for admission into graduate and professional studies programs at the master’s and doctoral degree levels. The program emphasizes academic achievement, involvement in cooperative research projects and other scholarly activities. http://www.lmu.edu/academics/ace.htm The TLC@LMU Program is an integrated and comprehensive approach to making students' college transition and first academic year a positive, empowering, healthy and productive experience. The program is a forward-thinking, participatory, and proactive approach to freshmen retention. TLC@LMU is a unique learning community that includes current students, faculty, university administrators, staff, alumni and parents. http://www.lmu.edu/studentlife/studentaffairs/newstudents/tlc.htm
