“UNL is very affordable for in-state students and offered me a generous financial aid package that other schools did not,” one student says. As a state school, UNL is extremely attractive for Nebraska students. In-state tuition is $6,480 annually, while out-of-state tuition is $19,230. In addition, students can expect to pay another $1,000 for books and supplies, and about $8,600 for room and board. However, 75 percent of freshmen receive some amount of financial aid. Sixty-two percent of students take out loans and the average University of Nebraska—Lincoln student can expect to graduate with about $21,600 in debt. The Collegebound Nebraska program promises that all Nebraska students eligible for Pell Grants will receive gift assistance to cover the total tuition costs.
