Career Experience

While attaining my bachelor's degree, I served as a TA and taught as a lab instructor at my university, from 2nd year up until completion (3 years), namely, anatomy and physiology, organic and general chemistry and general physics. I have also tutored high school students in preparation for their exit examinations, CSEC (5 years) in subjects such as biology, chemistry, integrated science and physics.

I Love Tutoring Because

I am given the opportunity to encourage students to tap into their potential a little bit more, which inspires them. It excites me to see how energetic a learner becomes as soon as they comprehend a topic they have struggled with.

I need help understanding how to take notes, how to know what information is important to pull from the readings the professor has provided. The several tutor sessions I have had has yet to show me how to take notes (consolidate information). I have only been told to highlight the large readings and read the material several times. The amount of information given in the time allowed does not allow for multiple pass throughs. The professor wants me to figure out how to consolidate the information, and learn what is needed in less than a week each week, but I don't understand how. A course or teaching the tutors how to do this would be helpful to many students who struggle with this.
