Students Say

Located in Athens, a little over an hour away from Atlanta, the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business has a “great reputation for advancement and innovation within the curriculum,” “optimal class sizes,” and an “outstanding location.” The faculty and administration encourage lively “class participation [and] interaction” and offer robust “feedback.” Administrative staff members are “warm” and “do everything in [their] power to assure…students have what they need and get as much out of the program as possible.” Professors have “real-world experience” and the program offers “exposure to international business” that is “beyond exemplary.” Additionally, Terry has a strong “reputation for risk management” studies and “one of the strongest real estate programs in the country.” The new facilities at Terry are “top notch” and make it “clear the school is investing in its future.” Another student concurs: “Terry is a program on the rise right now…clearly committed to elevating the program which shows in the infrastructure we're building, caliber of students we’re recruiting, and the financial resources behind those students.” The “small, individualized program…truly caters to the student,” and offers “unbeatable ROI”: the public university keeps tuition low and MBA students are awarded “graduated assistantships” and “generous merit-based scholarships.” Overall, students say that Terry’s MBA program is “strong in recruiting quality students, retaining an outstanding faculty, foundational curriculum,” and show “constant innovation to maintain or exceed market pace within the respective disciplines.”

Students Say

Terry’s career management center “bends over backward to ensure students are provided with the opportunity to interact with top companies across the nation through local and nationally sponsored events, and direct coordination.” “By the end of the first week,” says one student, “the entirety of the career center staff knew the names of every member of my cohort.” The “vast” and “invested” alumni network is also helpful when it comes to “polishing the students for job interviews and connecting job seekers to the right people.” Since the “cohort and small business group is emphasized,” with “every class includ[ing] a group work component,” students are prepared “for real-life corporate experiences.” Says one student: “My day-to-day in consulting is very similar to the days spent meeting with diverse classmates to work on a group project.” The college has a strong “relationship with regional companies” as well as the bigger firms in Atlanta. The experiential components of the academics allow students “to work on actual projects with companies,” which helps foster rewarding relationships early on.

Campus Life

Students Say

Teaching facilities at Terry are “brand new and state-of-the-art,” on a campus that is “beautiful and safe.” Athens is a “small town, but has tons to do” and provides “easy access to metro areas like Atlanta and Charlotte.” Students praise the town’s “vivid music and arts scene” that “captures the culture of the city” as well as the “surprising number of world class restaurants.” College sports (especially football) “are a key part of the experience and provide opportunities for entertainment and networking.” There are “consistent volunteer, social, and development events that truly enhance the graduate school experience,” including “Habitat for Humanity and Relay for Life,” which round out a social environment that offers everything from “tailgates” to “international holiday celebrations.” All in all, students can live a “perfect, balanced life” in a “peaceful atmosphere” where the community is tight-knit and supportive. “From the first day I met my peers,” one student says, “I felt like I had just found new friends for life….The bonds that were forged during those first two weeks have strengthened since classes began, and we all discovered the value of learning from each other.”
