Situated in Lausanne, Switzerland, IMD International is “a life changing experience” for business students who want an “intense one year program with special focus on leadership.” This “very prestigious” program offers “international exposure,” “diversity,” and a “focus on soft skills and leadership capability.” IMD has a reputation as the “best” of one-year MBA programs, and it is “famous for hard work.” “With ninety students we have a small but strong community at the beautiful shores of Lake Geneva,” one student says. The “convenient location” in central Europe provides “access to local network in a still growing country” as well as proximity to France, Germany, and other major European economies.

IMD students “come from multicultural backgrounds and most [have] experience in industry, not financial markets.” Most have “an average of six years working experience” and bring “that level of successful work history with them into lively and constructive dialogues between fellow students and professors.” This is an “amazing opportunity to spend time with a small group from thirty-nine different nationalities.” The “very high quality” and “really top-notch” faculty come “with extensive experience and fit the school profile.” “The professors not only taught us in class, they also led us on real business projects with real companies that had real problems,” one student attests. Professors tend to have a “close relationship” with students, and are “responsive, easy to access and have a coffee chat, and well prepared for the classes.” As one student raves, “It seems that every member of the faculty is an extraordinary pillar in their industry.”

“Family” is the way students at IMD describe their relationship with professors and administration. Students quickly get to know the faculty and staff “on a personal level.” This is “probably driven by [the] small size” of the program. The administration “does the job” and is “always helpful.” IMD requires very “intensive study,” but that only brings everyone closer: “The mood at the school is one of camaraderie and bonding through hard work.” “Class size is ninety, which makes it a very intimate experience.” Applicants should note that this is “a rather expensive program,” but, if you can pay the “hefty sum,” “it is one of the fastest MBAs to pay back the investment.”
