Students Say

Located just across the river from New York City in Hoboken, NJ, the School of Business at the Stevens Institute of Technology has a reputation for “technical prowess, program flexibility, and recommendations from alumni.” Through a partnership with Pfizer, students can pursue a Stevens MBA through a special program that has professors offering coursework at the office, and part-time students can take advantage of evening, weekend, and online courses. Students praise the concentration options, which include Business Intelligence & Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Marketing, and Project Management; the proximity to home and work; the “West Point leadership retreat”; and the opportunity to strengthen relationships with colleagues. The “technology and engineering bent” offers a diverse student body plenty of opportunities to stay “up-to-date.” Stevens MBA students highlight their “qualified and gifted professors” and “the diversely qualified, imaginative, and creative students.” The student body is genuinely diverse in all manner of ways; there is “ a wide range in age, years of experience, and background, which contributes to the uniqueness and diversity of the classroom.”

Career Overview

Students Say

The location of the School of Business on the periphery of Manhattan is great for Stevens MBA students, who praise the faculty network and job placement. Students are pleased to see that the school is quickly “becoming a brand like other private institutions” for name recognition and prestige. Many MBA students, of course, are already working in full-time careers, so the flexible locations and scheduling help working students get a leg up and take the next step toward advancement in their fields. Through the Field Consulting Program, Stevens MBA students are paired with a partner company to solve a real problem or opportunity the business is considering. Students gain practical experience by recommending a course of action to their partner company in a formal presentation to management. Some students suggest expanding “links between schools of management, engineering, and sciences” as well as including “corporate collaborations” in postgraduate research programs.

Campus Life

Students Say

The School of Business has a mix of students studying off-campus and on-campus, which makes for a diverse set of experiences when it comes to campus life. “Life as a graduate student at Stevens with a full-time career is challenging but great,” says one student. “After eight hours of class on Saturday, we have special events such as dinners and outings.” Commuters still find life at school to be “very engaging” and despite family, work, and travel commitments, can build a “close” cohort that is “almost like a second family.” With lectures from visiting experts and the office of graduate affairs offering a host of monthly activities and events, students have ample opportunity to mingle with “a diverse selection of students from all walks of life” bringing “their own unique perspective.”
