GBSA 517: Managing sustainability with environmental, social, and governance factors is an elective course that teaches students how ESG and sustainability factors affect both the success of an organization and society as a whole. In line with USD's focus on purpose-driven business, the course looks at how leaders can use ESG factors to make strategic decisions in all areas of the business. Climate change, human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion, ESG reporting standards, and performance metrics are some of the most important topics. Students look at how businesses are changing to meet changing expectations for responsible and sustainable business practices through case studies and group projects. They also learn how ESG frameworks affect long-term value creation.
GSBA 565: Logistics and Distribution Management is an elective course that helps students understand how logistics and distribution affect supply chain performance and business success. Since logistics often accounts for a significant part of costs in an organization, the course emphasizes its importance in creating efficiency, value, and a competitive edge. Students will learn basic principles of logistics and distribution, such as transportation, warehousing, inventory flow, and network design. They will examine how these factors impact service levels and cost management. The course focuses on recognizing key logistics challenges that modern supply chain managers face and understanding their effects on organizational performance. Students will also be introduced to modern tools, frameworks, and analytical techniques that help evaluate and solve real logistics and distribution issues. Through practical exercises and case studies, students will gain the skills to assess trade-offs, improve operations, and support data-driven decision-making in supply chain settings.
