Academics

Morris College is a small, private college located in downtown Sumter, South Carolina, that offers its students a solid liberal arts education with a particular focus on teacher education. The career-focused school remains under the ownership of its founding body, the Baptist Educational and Missionary Convention of South Carolina, and promotes an ethical and religious environment that follows the school motto of “Enter to Learn; Depart to Serve.” The college is organized into five divisions, with more than twenty majors and teacher certification programs available. Cooperative education courses—classroom-based, credited instruction with a practical work experience element—help students make a structured transition from school to work, and are available for both fulland part-time students. For those needing extra assistance, Student Support Services is available to provide academic advising, peer tutoring, and enrichment workshops to all students, especially those who are first generation, low income, or have learning differences.
