Academics

The University of Washington—Bothell, one of three University of Washington campuses, places an "emphasis on small class sizes, interdisciplinary studies, and collaboration." Students here love that UW Bothell "offers a lot of opportunities for real-world experience [with regards to both] undergraduate research and volunteer[ing]." They also appreciate that both the faculty and administration have an "open door policy" and truly "seem to take [student] suggestions, questions, issues and concerns to heart." Even more importantly, it's clear that UW Bothell professors "will do whatever it takes to help their students succeed." They are "very willing to meet with students outside of [their established] office hours," and they make it a point to use their own "personal successes and failures as learning experiences [for] the classroom." Professors tend to be "passionate about their subject areas and flexible in the way the material is presented." As one satisfied UW Bothell student concludes, "I feel safe going to them if I don't understand something and trust that they know what they are teaching. My overall academic experience has been very positive."

Student Body

The undergraduate student body UW Bothell is comprised of many "non-traditional students," who tend to be "a few years older" than the average college student, and a large percentage "commute" from home. Additionally, the university boasts a "high rate of first-generation students" as well. Student say you'll encounter a "wide range of traditions and ethnicities" strolling around the campus. UW Bothell undergrads say that their fellow students are "accepting" and "eager to learn and collaborate with other students." "Even if you are not in the same class, student wave to other students with a welcoming smile. Everyone here is kind and ready to help another student."

Campus Life

Rest assured, there is "always something going on" at UW Bothell. For starters, "every week there is an email update that is sent out with tons of fun activities to do on campus, [such as] a movie night, dance night, intramural sports, workout classes, etc." A number of students also love to capitalize on the fact that "the school rents outdoor gear," which "allows [undergrads] to take advantage of the natural beauty that Washington is well known for—or at least helps [them] to be better prepared for camping in the rain." Additionally, a large portion of UW Bothell undergrads flock to the "Activities and Recreation Center which is abbreviated to ARC." This facility provides a space "for students to study and [relax]. There are board games and video games available for students [to checkout] for free." Further, many a student can be found playing sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. And they often enjoy "walks on the outdoor trails…[or] watching birds and beavers in the wetlands located on campus."
