What is the Official GMAT Guide?

Produced by GMAC, the official GMAT guide includes practice questions from “retired” GMAT exams, a math/grammar content review, sample essay answers, and a diagnostic test.

Math and and verbal supplements, The Official Guide for GMAT ®  Quantitative Review and The Official Guide for GMAT ® Verbal Review,  are sold separately. You can also purchase the entire series as a bundle.

What’s new in the 2021 edition?

GMAC says that the 2021 edition features 181 more questions across the three guides from the 2020 editions. New-to-the-guide questions are pulled from past GMAT exams. The 2020 series consisted of:

  • The GMAT Official Guide 2020 contains 998 questions (An additional 174 questions are available in the Online Question Bank).
  • GMAT Official Guide Verbal Review 2020 contains 347 questions.
  • GMAT Official Guide Quantitative Review 2020 contains 373 questions.
The updated edition includes changes, such as:

  • Additional questions on content that were not as extensively covered in previous editions.
  • The questions in the Diagnostic Test that used to appear in Chapter 3 of the main GMAT Official Guide have been moved into their own section within the Online Question Bank.
  • The Online Question Bank for the Official Guide 2021 series can now be accessed on mobile devices through the Wiley Efficient Learning mobile app and used in offline mode.
  • Over 150 additional flashcards in the Online Question Bank.
