Sustainability course is
Required

Description
One of the required courses in our MBA program is Social, Ethical and Legal Systems in Business that discuss sustainability issues in businesses. Economic, technological, political, social, and ecological environments are examined within the context of business decision making, ethics, and social responsibility. Students are expected to include ethical and social responsibility analysis in their capstone course. We also offer MBA Track in Sustainability. Several other courses in supply chain, marketing and leadership incorporate significant sustainability related topics.

Research Opportunities in Sustainability
Yes

Description
We offer six masters level courses in “Building Sustainable Enterprise” track, and several offer practicums and applied research projects. It is widely known that much of our environmental harm can be linked to economic activity, and several faculty members here believe the key to meeting the challenges posed by climate change is to actively engage business in the process. Some challenge students to find ways to make sustainable practices affordable and, whenever possible, profitable in order to get business involved. Much work has been focused on engaging key stakeholders in the process of positive change and facilitating a shared, strategic vision among business leaders. Faculty have coordinated and conducted numerous business action research projects on sustainability issues in the construction, agriculture, aquaculture, hotel and food service industries, marketing and sustainable development initiatives. Applied research has been conducted on many publically held and private organizations, as well as government agencies. This gives students many opportunities to apply tools learned in the classroom to real life cases and improve the organizations sustainable performance.

School's environmental commitment 1:
We have an entire track in our MBA program (now in its 13th year) Building Sustainable Enterprise, which enables students to take electives in the field or become certified. We have a sustainability journal, Organization and Environment, managed at the USF College of Business, and several faculty members are actively engaged in sustainability research.

School's environmental commitment 2:
The university started a new Patel College of Global Sustainability that offers a dual degree with the Center of Entrepreneurship. http://entrepreneurship.usf.edu/programs/sustainability/ and http://sgs.usf.edu/m-a-program/section/curriculum.

School's environmental commitment 3:
We have developed a unique web based course “Special Topics in Management and Sustainability” that provides models for greening all types of organizations. It is now required in the USF MA in Global Sustainability programs http://sgs.usf.edu/m-a-program and the masters in Sustainable Entrepreneurship program.
