Career Experience
I've got a little over 6 years of tutoring under my belt. I started in high school by tutoring my friends and some of their siblings for their math classes and the SAT/ACT. After that, I worked at a K-12 tutoring center for about 2 years. While there, I got a lot of experience working with and teaching all of elementary and middle school math. I later started teaching at my university in their peer tutoring program. I mainly taught Calculus I-III as well as all the math classes under that. Since I majored in biochemistry, I also helped out with general and organic chemistry as well as Physics I (mechanics). Teaching at college allowed me to get practice teaching more complicated topics to a huge variety of people. After graduating from college, I started teaching online. This gave me a chance to see how other universities and school districts structure their math/science curriculums, so I've seen just about every variation and special topic for the classes I teach. All in all, I've gotten a ton of practice teaching and am confident that I can help you meet your academic goals!
I Love Tutoring Because
math is one of the subjects students struggle with the most. You fall behind just once and it becomes so hard to catch up. You miss one thing, and because of that, you can't understand anything afterward. I've met a lot of people who get to their last year of high school or college and are scared they won't graduate because they just can't make it past math. The reason I love tutoring is that I can help people gain confidence in and, more often than not, even enjoy doing math. It's just one of the best feelings when a student comes in not knowing how they're going to survive the unit and leaves the session boasting about crushing the next exam.
