For the past six and a half years, I have worked as a writing tutor at a community college. I also taught developmental writing (college prep) classes at the college for five years. Before entering the academic world, I worked in journalism for about 20 years as a reporter, copy editor, and managing editor. My educational background includes a bachelor's degree and a certificate in copy editing. Regarding my tutoring philosophy, I believe positive reinforcement is as important as constructive criticism.
