Career Experience
After finishing school, I immediately wanted to use what I had learned! One of my professors introduced me to a foreign teacher exchange called TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France). After being accepted into the program, I spent the next two years teaching English as a second language in three different schools. I collaborated with the English teams from these schools to create innovative and exciting coursework including vocabulary games, small mock plays and using music to teach figures of speech. Teaching large groups was a gratifying challenge, but I have moved toward more focused, one on one learning. This will allow me to better target students' needs and what they hope to get out of each session!
I Love Tutoring Because
I remember when I needed extra help outside the classroom and what it felt like to finally understand the difficult material. I think when learning something new, there is inevitably a moment where it clicks and becomes easier, the 'aha' moment. One of the primary reasons I work in education is to lead students to this 'aha' moment, where they better understand and have the confidence to progress their learning.
