Career Experience
After graduating with my BA in criminal justice in 2011, I became involved with my local police department through their ride along program. In 2013, I started my career out in a DCF Safe Home for teenage girls who were at risk and had nowhere else they could go. After working at this program for about a year, I began working at a residential program for teenage girls who were on juvenile probation and parole, which allowed me to work on my master's degree while also working full time. Once I obtained this degree in 2016, I was able to transition into my current role as a case manager for a program that works with adult offenders who are currently being supervised through the court system, probation, or parole to help them avoid any further legal system involvement. At this program, I work one-on-one with clients through case management as well as running groups to help them change the way they think, learn refusal skills, help them to obtain employment, and also learn what healthy relationships are. I have also worked for a short time with my local DCF office which allowed me to learn how their programs work and now further help my clients who do not understand the system and allows me to help them navigate it.
