Career Experience
My clinical experience spans a broad range of hospital medical and surgical nursing, which has functioned as a strong foundation for the teaching roles I have held. After my initial years as a nurse, I have held various roles as a nurse resource and teacher, including unit-based clinical nurse specialist, clinical instructor at the university level, and nurse educator in a large teaching hospital.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love the profession of nursing, and teaching has always been a joy to me. My best reward is when I've been able to help advance someone's knowledge or understanding. I begin by assessing the starting point, which is the student's current understanding of the concept. I then pose questions to lead the student to exercise critical thinking, which is the essence of expert nursing practice. When teaching about a complex concept, I enjoy the challenge of breaking it down to make it understandable. I love working with motivated students!
